Dr. Lois Evans
Senior Vice President of the Urban Alternative
Founder of The First Lady Conference
I am excited about the National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative and the impact it is having on communities across the country. My husband, Tony and I know firsthand the positive outcomes that come from families exercising their faith with good works. As a parent and grandparent, I am very aware of the importance that a strong family structure has on the comprehensive development of children.

That’s why The Urban Alternative seeks to build strong individuals, families, churches, and communities from a Kingdom perspective. We do this through numerous publications, radio, television and the Internet. In addition, we host two annual conferences, the Church Development Conference and The First Lady Conference that train and refresh pastors, lay leaders and senior pastors’ wives in the work of the ministry. Through the NCAASI, we are equipping churches to strengthen families so that what a child learns during the school day is reinforced in the home.

And for such a time as this, The Urban Alternative has developed a Project Turn•Around Implementation Toolkit to train churches and faith-based leaders on building strong organizations that deliver effective and sustainable spiritual and social programs.

Please contact us and take advantage of the wealth of resources we provide you in building your ministry. Our prayer is that God will enlarge your territory as you continue to seek first His Kingdom. As Tony often says, the best is yet to come.

“...And who knows but that you have come to royal position
for such a time as this? ”                                                  - Esther 4:14

National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative Toolkit
The purpose of the National School Adopt-A-School Implementation Toolkit is two-fold. It features the National Church Adopt-A-School Initiative, undertaken by The Urban Alternative, which prepares churches across our nation to rebuild their communities from the inside out by improving the lives of public school youth and families. The Toolkit was developed to give faith-based leaders a step-by-step process to replicate the Church Adopt-A-School program, based on the Dallas,Texas model, as well as other PTA social services in their markets.

In addition, the Toolkit equips leaders of churches, as well as school districts, faith-based and other nonprofit organizations with the knowledge to build strong organizational and programmatic infrastructures. Topics address the vital components that make up a strong, viable organization such as board and staff structure, administrative and fiscal management, program development and evaluation, as well as fund development and marketing.
